LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification is an internationally recognized certification system for sustainable buildings created by the U.S. Green Building Council. Among the benefits provided by this evaluation are:
Recycling, environmental care, reforestation, water consumption, and energy use are fundamental points that, as a company, we are committed to finding sustainable solutions for, contributing to the reduction of environmental impacts in the environments where we operate.
In 2021, PepsiCo inaugurated its new distribution center in Guatemala, promoting best practices in sustainable design and energy efficiency, which focuses its efforts on reducing CO2 emissions throughout its supply chain to promote a more sustainable food system.
The Logistics Center has an area of 43,500 square meters, a capacity of more than 12,000 pallets, 29 dispatch doors, and an automated voice command product selection system. Additionally, it generates 22%%of its energy through solar panels and the rest through other renewable energy sources. Through a water treatment plant, waste management, and an efficient water usage system, which together translate into an energy efficiency of 46%%.
